Topical Storm Andrea to bring heavy rains beginning Thursday

***TROPICAL STORM WARNING***
***FLASH FLOOD WATCH***

Tropical Storm Andrea continues to move toward the northeast Florida coast this afternoon. The outer rain bands will continue to move into the Lowcountry this afternoon. Rain and wind will increase tonight as the forecast path brings the center of Tropical Storm Andrea directly over top of eastern South Carolina. We still expect area wide rain totals of 3-5" with isolated higher amounts. Winds will gust over 35-45mph and that could cause some isolated power outages overnight. There is also a risk of short-lived tornadoes after midnight into the early morning hours. We will have complete updates here on-line and on the air all evening and all night as the storm approaches.

Man accused of groping, choking woman on upper King St.

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- Charleston police say they have arrested a man who groped and choked an 18-year-old female as she was walking down King Street early Sunday morning.

According to a police report, the victim was walking down King Street near Columbus Street around 6:50 a.m. when the suspect, 50-year-old Michael Anthony Gorham, yelled something at her from across the street. The victim kept walking.

The report states Gorham then came up behind the victim and grabbed her side and breasts. When she pulled away, the suspect started choking her.

Police say Gorham ran off when a Closed For Business employee who was driving to work saw the two fighting, and yelled at the suspect to stop. He then gave the victim a ride home and told her to call police.

Gorham was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with second-degree assault and battery. He is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center.

Defendant to victim, 'You think it's over...I'm going to kill you'

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- Police say a man suspected of damaging a woman's car threatened to kill her and made an obscene gesture in court as a jury was getting ready to hear the case.

The Charleston Police Department charged 43-year-old Maxton Johnson on Monday with intimidation.

On May 6, the victim told investigators that she was in a courtroom at the Charleston Municipal Court Building on Lockwood Boulevard waiting for a pending jury trial when Johnson threatened her.

The victim said Johnson told her,"You think it's over, it's not over, (expletive). I'm going to kill you."

According to the victim, Johnson stuck out his middle finger at her. Authorities say an attorney for an unrelated case witnessed the incident.

CPD officials say Maxton and the victim were in court for a case where Maxton is accused of damaging the victim's vehicle.
