Charleston firefighters to don pink to fight breast cancer | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
For the next three duty days, firefighters with the Charleston Fire Department will wear pink shirts with their uniforms. The gesture is meant to raise awareness of breast cancer and support those dealing with the disease.
Charleston firefighter T.J. Brennan started a non-profit to help uninsured and under-insured women in the Charleston area get tested and treated for the disease. Lowcountry Hope has also gotten other area departments to sign on and wear pink during October as well. The help of the Charleston Firefighters Association allowed Brennan to buy the shirts for all members of the department to wear.
Not only will the shirts be worn October 1-3, firefighters can wear them throughout the month to support Lowcountry Hope.
