DOWNTOWN (WCSC) - Belk is opening a special, limited-time shop on King Street just in time for Charleston Fashion Week.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Belk@341King will be held Saturday, March 9 at 10 a.m. The store will be open throughout the month of March, including during Charleston Fashion Week from March 19-23.

The temporary shop will offer exclusive clothing, jewelry and handbags from the new line CYNTHIA Cynthia Rowley. Customers will also get the chance to purchase select apparel from winners of the 2012 Southern Designer Showcase competition.

DOWNTOWN (WCSC) - Those interested in food and beverage jobs can head to The Joe Saturday for The RiverDogs annual job fair.

The F&B Job Fair will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Joe Riley Park. The fair will offer folks the opportunity to apply for gameday working positions with the Class-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.

Those interested in applying for a gameday position are asked to attend the fair and fill out an application on-site.

"We pride ourselves in having one of the finest and friendliest staffs in all of Minor League Baseball," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "Our employees fully embrace what it means to be a RiverDogs staff member, and it shows through every day i how hard they work to uphold it."

A second job fair for staff positions like ticket takers, ushers, ID checkers, parking attendants and the Kids Zone's operators will be held Saturday, March 9 from 9 a.m. to Noon.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A new online data resource is combining metro information from four Charleston organizations and placing it all on a free website.

Charleston Regional Competitiveness Center's new website is a collaborative effort between the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments, the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Charleston Regional Development Alliance, and the Trident Workforce Investment Board.

This website will provide users with information on the Charleston metro area, such as economic, demographic and workforce information along with research and data trends used to make business and policy decisions.

TripAdvisor ranks 3 Charleston hotels among best in the U.S.

 

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Three Charleston-area hotels have been ranked among the best in the United States in a survey that polled millions of travelers worldwide.

TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel website, announced the winners of its 2013 Traveler’s Choice awards for hotels, and Wentworth Mansion, French Quarter Inn, and The Restoration on King all made the list.

The website compiles their data using millions of customer reviews covering more than 650,000 hotels around the world.

Wentworth Mansion, located at 149 Wentworth St. in downtown Charleston, received the following honors:

  • 2nd Top Luxury Hotel in the U.S.,
  • 5th Top Luxury Hotel in the World
  • 2nd Best Small Hotel in U.S.

DOWNTOWN (WCSC) - A Charleston-based sports apparel company is preparing to open its doors to the public this Saturday.

SAVAGEulitmate will the grand opening of its new storefront located at 1051 Morrison Drive on Saturday, September 22 from 7 to 10 p.m. The retail store will sell custom athletic jerseys, shorts, hoodies, hats, T-shirts, and more.

The company was founded in 2009 by Todd Curran as a screen-printing operation. SAVAGE started out in the ultimate Frisbee market, but has moved into the soccer, roller derby, hockey, lacrosse, cycling and quidditch custom apparel markets.

Dates set for Charleston Restaurant Week

CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Charleston's week-and-a-half long celebration of culinary brilliance will return in September.

Charleston Restaurant Week will kick off September 5 and run through September 16. The event, held by the Charleston Restaurant Association, will give people a chance to experience the world-renowned cuisine of the Lowcountry at an affordable price.

Participating restaurants will feature special meal deals, offering three items for $20, $30, or $40 depending on the restaurant.
