Nick Collins Fundraiser to be held at Midtown tonight | Events
DOWNTOWN (WCSC) - A fundraising event will be held at Midtown Bar & Grill tonight for a musician who is in critical condition after a car accident on August 3.
The Nick Collins Fundraiser will kick off at 6 p.m. Thursday night at Midtown Bar & Grill on King Street. Live music will be provided by Ryan Bonner and Mac Leaphart and BBQ will be available for sale.
All tips and a percentage of sales during tonight’s event will go towards Collins' recovery. Donations will also be accepted.
Officials say 26-year-old Nick Collins was ejected from the back seat of a car when the vehicle he was traveling in was involved in a single car accident on I-526 on August 3.
Police say Collins, a member of the band Fowler's Mustache, was on the side of the road when an 18-wheeler ran over his legs. The driver of the truck did not stop.
The website NACwins.com says due to the extent of Collins' injuries, he still faces a long stay in the hospital, followed by months of rehab.
Supporters are asked to give a $10 donation at the door. Must be at least 21-years-old to attend.
Police are still searching for the driver of the 18-wheeler.
