New survey ranks Charleston 4th best city in U.S. and Canada | News

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- Charleston has long been regarded as one of the best cities in the United States, but a recent survey has named Charleston the fourth best city in both the U.S. and Canada combined.
Travel + Leisure has released their 2012 World's Best Awards and Charleston received plenty of love from its readers who were surveyed. Six characteristics went into reader's votes: sights, culture/arts, restaurants/food, people, shopping, and value.
This year, Charleston fell two spots on the annual list, having placed 2nd in 2011.
Kiawah Island also received a high ranking, coming in at No. 5 on their list of Top Five Islands in the Continental U.S. and Canada 2012.
Numerous other locations in Charleston also saw their name pop up in the Travel + Leisure 2012 World's Best Awards readers' survey results.
In the Top Small City Hotels in the Continental U.S., Wentworth Mansion came in at No. 1, Market Pavilion Hotel ranked No. 4, and Planters Inn checked in at No. 7.
Charleston Place was ranked No. 33 on the list of Top Large City Hotels in the Continental U.S.
