Police: Man caught pleasuring himself near CofC | News
CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- A 46-year-old man was arrested last Friday after police say he was caught pleasuring himself in a car parked near the College of Charleston campus.
According to an incident report from the Charleston Police Department, officers performed a traffic stop on a red Ford Mustang around 1 p.m. after receiving reports of a man in a red car who was exposing himself.
Two 20-year-olds told police they had seen a man pleasuring himself in the church parking lot at Morris and Coming streets.
Officers arrived at the scene and pulled the driver over right after he exited a parking lot at Morris and Coming streets.
The driver, 46-year-old Timothy Sidden, first told officers he had come down from North Charleston to be with his wife at the MUSC psychiatric ward, but he later admitted he was from North Carolina and was only there to pick up his ex-wife's belongings, the report states.
Sidden also told officers he didn't spend much time in Charleston, but one officer noted a field interview from 2012 conducted after Sidden was apparently spotted pleasuring himself in a gold Cadillac.
Sidden admitted to police he used to drive that car, but sold it.
Officers also noted Sidden's mouth was incredibly dry, and he was fidgeting throughout the interview, appearing to be very nervous. Furthermore, despite a temperature in the 60s, officers said Sidden was "sweating profusely."
The two women who first reported the incident then were brought to the scene and identified Sidden as the man they had seen gratifying himself earlier.
Sidden was charged with two counts of indecent exposure and taken to the Charleston County Detention Center.
